Sounds like a Michigan man

In Detroit News' Blue Chip Recruits article today, one Michigan recruits says the reason he choose UM over MSU is simple
"The academics is better."
Spoken like a true Wolverine.
Thank you for not going to State young man.

I don't get it...what's wrong with choosing UofM over MSU because of academics? Isnt' UofM in the top 25-30 schools in the world? I think State was around #80.
re-read his quote...
when talking about academics he said
"the academics is better"
sort of ironic

Best recruiting experience: It was when the coaches came to my school. It was like, 'It's the same guys I see on TV.' They were from different schools like Iowa, Michigan State, Michigan and Illinois. It made me feel good knowing I was appreciated.
Worst recruiting experience: All my experiences were good.
Why not U-M? I didn't receive a scholarship offer from Michigan. That was the school I always wanted to go to. It was kind of disappointing they didn't offer me. I worked real hard to receive an offer.
You see Chris, although both "is" and "are" are present tense conjugations of the verb "be" in the indicative mood, "is"
is singular, whereas "are" is plural. In the passage cited, the player makes reference to "academics." Although he may be making reference to the general, singular practice of academia and the pursuit of academics, the collective "academics" is, in fact, plural. Therefore, the proper conjugation in that context would have been "are."
Dumbass.
"is" is the present tense singular conjugation of the verb "be," in the indicative mood, where as "are" is the present tense plural conjugation of the verb "be," in the indicative
Postscript:
Excuse me, "Michigan Fan"? Yes, you're an a-wipe.

I hate ESPN's recent addition to the bottom line. Instead of NCAAM as the category, they will write something like "KNIGHT." They did the same thing with "SANTANA."
In my opinion, they are making individuals bigger than the game. Does it bother anyone else?
I agree, Boosh.
I said the same thing to my dad right after the Santana deal went down.
